Summary
Puigcerdà is the capital of Cerdanya, a comarca in Girona, Catalonia, Spain, situated near the Segre River and the French border. Founded in 1178 by Alfonso I of Aragon, it replaced Hix as the region's capital. During the Spanish Civil War, Puigcerdà was notable for its democratically elected Anarchist council.
