Summary
Riobamba, officially San Pedro de Riobamba, is the capital of Chimborazo Province in Ecuador, situated in the Andes' Chambo River Valley. Founded by Diego de Almagro in 1534, it's considered the first city in modern Ecuador. The city was rebuilt in 1803 after a devastating 1797 earthquake.
