Telavi is the administrative center of the Kakheti region in eastern Georgia. It served as the capital of the Kingdom of Kakheti and later the Kingdom of Kartl-Kakheti under the reign of King Erekle II. The city is situated on the foothills of the Tsiv-Gombori Range.
