Makuria

Makuria was a medieval Nubian kingdom located in present-day Sudan and Egypt, flourishing from the 4th to the 16th centuries. Its capital, Dongola, served as a vital center along the Nile River, between the 3rd and 4th cataracts. The kingdom converted to Christianity in the 6th century and maintained a complex relationship with neighboring powers through treaties and dynastic alliances.
