Summary
The LSSR was a Soviet puppet state established in December 1918, led by Vincas Mickevičius-Kapsukas. It emerged following the retreat of German forces and Soviet Russia's renunciation of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. The republic merged with Byelorussia in February 1919, forming Litbel.
