Summary
The Republic of Upper Peru was a short-lived unrecognized state established in 1828 following a revolt against the Peruvian-Bolivian War. Led by Pedro Blanco Soto and José Ramón de Loayza Pacheco, it claimed the entirety of Bolivian territory. Its existence ended with Blanco Soto's overthrow and execution by José Ballivián in Sucre.
