Summary
Saxe-Lauenburg was a reichsfrei duchy existing from 1296 to 1803 and 1814-1876 in Schleswig-Holstein. Its capital moved from Lauenburg upon Elbe to Ratzeburg in 1619. Territories south of the Elbe were occasionally part of the duchy, later ceded to Hanover.
