Summary
The Republic of Stellaland was a short-lived Boer republic established in 1882 in the territory of British Bechuanaland. It was named after a comet visible at the time and had its capital in Vryburg. The state was annexed by the British in 1885, contributing to tensions leading to the Boer War.
