About territory
The Caribbean Netherlands consists of the special municipalities of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba, located in the Caribbean Sea. These islands were formerly part of the Netherlands Antilles and gained their current status in 2010. They are considered overseas territories of the European Union, but EU law does not automatically apply to them. Bonaire is situated near Venezuela, while Sint Eustatius and Saba are part of the Lesser Antilles. The economy relies on tourism, fishing, and some limited international business.
