About Guam

Guam is the largest and southernmost island of the Mariana Islands, situated in Micronesia. Its history is marked by indigenous Chamorro settlement dating back approximately 3,500 years. The island experienced early contact with Portuguese explorers in the 16th century, followed by Spanish colonization. Guam served as a crucial stopover point for Manila galleons during the Spanish colonial period, facilitating trade between Asia and the Americas. Today, Guam remains an unincorporated territory of the United States, holding strategic importance in the Pacific.
