About territory
Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, situated in the English Channel near the coast of France. Historically part of the Duchy of Normandy, it maintained loyalty to the English Crown after the loss of mainland Normandy. Throughout its history, Jersey has been a strategic point in Anglo-French conflicts, resulting in fortifications like Mont Orgueil Castle. During World War II, the island was occupied by German forces until its liberation on May 9th, now celebrated as Liberation Day. Today, Jersey is a thriving financial center and tourist destination with a unique blend of British and French influences.
