About Jordan
Jordan's history stretches back millennia, with evidence of human habitation since the Paleolithic period. During the Iron Age, the kingdoms of Ammon, Moab, and Edom flourished in the region that is now Jordan. The Nabataean civilization, renowned for its rock-cut architecture in Petra, established a significant kingdom in the third century BC. Following periods of Greco-Roman and Byzantine rule, the area became integrated into various Islamic caliphates. The modern state of Jordan emerged after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the Great Arab Revolt.
