About Somalia

Somalia's history is deeply rooted in its strategic location as a vital commercial hub in antiquity. Throughout the Middle Ages, powerful Somali empires like the Ajuran, Adal, and Geledi Sultanates flourished, controlling regional trade routes. The late 19th century witnessed the colonization of Somali territories by Italian and British empires, resulting in the establishment of Italian Somaliland and British Somaliland. These two colonies eventually merged to form independent Somalia in 1960, marking a pivotal moment in the nation's journey towards self-determination. However, the subsequent decades were marked by political instability and civil war, significantly impacting the country's development.
