Summary
The State of Cambodia was the official name of the country between 1989 and 1993 during the transition period overseen by the United Nations. It replaced the People's Republic of Kampuchea following the withdrawal of Vietnamese forces. The state ended with the restoration of the monarchy under King Norodom Sihanouk.
