It shares borders with eight countries, including Greece, Bulgaria, and Iran, and is surrounded by four seas: the Black Sea, the Aegean Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Marmara Sea. The country boasts a rich history, having been home to various ancient civilizations, including the Hittites, Romans, and Byzantines. Modern Türkiye was established in 1923 following the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, and has since undergone significant modernization and economic development. Istanbul, the largest city, serves as a vital economic and cultural hub, while Ankara functions as the nation's capital.
