Türkiye's history stretches back millennia, with evidence of human habitation dating to the Paleolithic era. Throughout antiquity, the region was home to diverse civilizations, including the Hittites, Greeks, and Romans, each leaving a lasting cultural imprint. The arrival of the Seljuk Turks in the 11th century marked a turning point, initiating the Turkification of Anatolia and the establishment of the Sultanate of Rum.
